It's Gameday by Jill.....(Championship Edition!)

Victory for LSU

The bags are packed, the parties are planned
We’re all making the trip
From New Orleans to Montana to Afghanistan and Iraq
Every one of us is going to the Ship

After five glorious weeks of rest and rehabilitation
It will be beautiful to see a healthy number 72
A fully and completely ready Early Doucet
And the 2-headed quarterback of Flynn and Perrilloux

Kirston Pittman wants another BCS ring
Craig Steltz looks to add another to his family
Playing for a National Championship is a rare and special thing
Keith Zinger, also playing for his 2nd, would agree

Matt Flynn’s patience now has its reward
He waited, and he has earned this chance
He’s not ever going to be a first round draft pick
But his leadership has brought him to college football’s biggest dance

Let’s talk about the Ohio State Buckeyes
Their bowl record vs. The SEC is 0-8
Notre Dame was sure they’d break their losing streak last year
Does anyone need a reminder of their fate?

ESPN is in an ’03 time warp
They want so badly to make other teams matter
The National Championship game is right here and right now
Anything else is just chatter

This damn fine football team has persevered
With their heart and fight they have earned this attention
Every single player has made it happen
This poem is too short, but every name deserves a mention

Coach Miles is the subject of a great debate
Is he smart or is he crazy? Is it this or is it that?
There’s only one thing those people need to know
Now is the time to Fear the Hat

GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fun with numbers.....

41-14 - Last years score UF vs. OSU
0-8 - OSU record against SEC Teams in Bowl Games
0-2 - OSU record against teams with Tigers for mascots in Bowl Games

Read this.... they're obsessed with their defeat....not healthy...punch em hard early!!!

National Championship (THE 'SHIP!) RANT!!!

Yes....it's that time again....it's time for another National Championship for Your LSU Fighting Tigers!!! It's a night game...it's in the Dome...it's gonna be loud.... we're playing some annoying team wearing red with another stupid mascot.... it's time...once again... for another pre-game rant....

THE GAME

#2 LSU (11-2) vs #1 the Ohio State (11-1)

THE HAT vs. THE WEASEL IN THE SWEATER VEST

SEC Champion vs. the Big Ten (11 teams why the 10????) Champion

Do I have to go into detail???? ....no.... you know that this is the MARBLE GAME.... BCS Trophy lies in wait.... first two time BCS Trophy winner will be the outcome of this one...

OH HOW I HATE OHIO STATE!!

This Monday's Tigerbait...wears red and gray and hails from Oh-hi-ho. They refer to themselves as "The Ohio State University" .....Whatever.

Coached by Jim "the weasel in the vest" Tressel. One BCS hardware item in the trophy case and loser by about 600 points last year to Urban Cryer in the BCS game against the Gators. How did he take the ESPN "Greatest Team of All-Time" and lose??? Easy....they couldn't handle the SEC speed.... somehow Lou Holtz thinks that this has magically been fixed. ????? The one loss this year... to Ron Friggin Zook no less......

Team - QB - Todd Boekmann...tall with a gun and suspect scrambling ability...meet Mr. Jones and Mr. Dorsey!!!

RB - Chris "Beanie" Wells.... well isn't that cute. He's the one man show. Stop him better than McFadden please. Ali Highsmith...you got this one.....

WR - Robiskie (son of the LSU great) and Hartline - STELTZ is on it! and Zenon is ready to light em up!!

Defense.... #1 we here... we'll see.....

LB - Laurenitis... All American.... Poo Poo Broussards' buddy. Hester's in to block this guy. Interesting to see a collision between him and RP....

OL and DL - Big..very Big...

Mascot - What the hell is that thing??? A Buckeye.???. a poisonous nut?? WTF??? Brutus scares me more than the U_L_L pepper...

Band - It's the script "Ohio" or is it the "O SH_T"!!! (thanks for the 50 or so emails with that one...it's still funny!!!!)

Fans - Outnumbered and out partied by the Tiger Faithful in N.O. If they're anything like the other Big 10 fans in 2001 (Illinois) they'll show up massively hungover and not a factor....and judging from StubHub as I write this....selling the majority of the last minute tickets.....

LSU!! LSU!! LSU!!!

Coaching - Heck LES is still here... He's having a great day with his Damn Strong Football Team.

Crowton has had a month to implement more spread offense...the achilles heal of Big-1o.

Nebraska's Head Coach is here to throw some well rested Dorsey Army members at the hapless Buckeyes!!!

FEAR THE HAT!!!

Team - Flynn or Perrilloux? How bout Flynn and Perrilloux?? Can't stop either one Oh-Hi-Ho!

RB - Hester, KW, Scott, Trindon (Dang he's fast..... good luck with that the Oh-Hi-Ho!), and Crazy Legs Murphy....

WR - Take your pick...Early, Lafell, how bout a few quick strikes to Byrd!

Defense - remember one thing.... You're only alive because Glenn Dorsey let's you live!!! He's rested and ready... he's got the number one draft pick in the NFL at stake and the championship to Win that he returned to LSU for.... Good luck with that tOSU!!!!

Mascot - A live Bengal/Siberian Tiger Mix... don't mess with a live cat (see CNN) that even scares Glenn Dorsey!!! Mike VI wants to start off his reign with a Crystal Football!!!

Band - Ohio cannot handle the Golden Band from Tiger Land!!! and those fabulous Golden Girls are far superior to anything a cold weather state could even dream to offer.... Advantage - LSU!!!

Fans - THAT's YOU!!! If you're there.... I expect you to blow both vocal chords and be at the ENT Specialist on Wed.... you won't feel anything Tuesday after the victory.... (ssh....we're not at that part yet.....) IF you're not there.... channel some energy...... Regardless....BRING YOUR A-GAME!!!!

WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN!?!?!?!

Lou Holthszsps picked OSU ...so that 's a bonus!!! It all starts at 7:00 PM... OSU does it's dumb script and dot the "i" thing...then bedlum..... the Golden Band From Tiger Land blasts out those four notes that signal.... pain is coming....and it's wearing white jerseys....and is hungry.......

Ohio hangs for a quarter....but LSU has too many weapons.... am I speaking with Logic or Emotion???? Both.... Flynn goes out in style....Hester is consistent... the Defense steps up....Chad Jones returns a punt for a TD and Crowton finds a way to insert Holliday to maximize the speed.... ....okay... the OSU QB has Post Tramautic Stress Disorder after this one.....

GEAUX TIGERS!!!!

THE PREDICTION!!

LSU 37

OH-hi-o State 20

GEAUX TIGERS!!!

GEAUX TIGERS!!!!

L

S

U!!!!!!

Now go enjoy some tastey beignets after the celebration........

Flynn and Perrilloux Playing Video Games to prepare?

http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=ap-bcs-videogameplaybook&prov=ap&type=lgns

LSU quarterbacks use video game to prepare for BCS national championship game

By RALPH D. RUSSO, AP College Football WriterJanuary 5, 2008

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- When practice is over and film study is done, LSU quarterbacks, as most college kids do, play video games.
The difference is Matt Flynn and Ryan Perrilloux are usually still working on the game plan for the BCS national championship game against Ohio State when they fire up the Xbox these days.
LSU offensive coordinator Gary Crowton has used a custom-made video game to help his quarterbacks learn to read defenses.

XOS Technologies, a company that specializes in gearing technology to the needs of coaches, worked with EA Sports to produce the PlayAction Simulator that LSU has used this season.
"What they've done is they put our plays into the video game and then they put in our opponents' defenses," said Crowton, the Tigers' first-year offensive coordinator.
The game looks and plays just like the popular Madden NFL and NCAA football games, though all the goofy stuff such as player celebrations, cheering crowds, mascots and bands have been removed.
LSU and Tennessee were the first schools to use it this season and it went well enough that XOS expects to make it available to all its clients this year. The company provides technology to most Division I schools.
"The video game is an excellent resource we have," Perrilloux said. "Whenever we hit a play, that play would automatically match up with the defense that we would see or blitz we would see.
"If you make the wrong decision it's an automatic interception or it's an automatic incompletion." ......................................

48 hours ....and some change....

Okay as I write this..kickoff is a mere 53 hours away.....

Long time since August.... the improbable.... two losses in triple overtime...the win against Tenn-uh-cee for the SEC Championship....then the unthinkable... a very bad Pitt team taking out West Virginia.... that's the BCS....weird some may say....but it does bring us to where we are....#2 LSU vs. #1 OSU. A rematch of sorts that has stewed since then late 80's. If you were there during the Archer years your remember those two games....a damn Tie in Tiger Stadium .....then the next year the choke job by Archer's team in the last 3 minutes giving up two TDs. I want revenge.... ...but enough of that ....take the game for what it is..... the Crowning of the BCS Champion.

So you say you don't like the BCS...here's what life would be if the BCS had not come about..... LSU would not have been the NC in 2003..... and friggin USC would have about ten more ...here's why...... without the BCS you'd have the traditional bowl matchups in the following:

  1. Rose Bowl - Pac-10 vs. Big 10 (Eleven) Would have been USC vs OSU

  2. Sugar Bowl - SEC vs. Big Least/ACC. Would have been LSU vs W... Va./Va. Tech

  3. Cotton - Big 12 vs. Notre Dame...haaahaaaa... Chokelohoma would have maybe won that one.

  4. Fiesta - ACC vs ?

So you'd have the media enamored every flipping year over the Rose Bowl as it used to be (well Brent Musberger and ESPN/ABC/ Disnet still are). There'd be no chance for the SEC to win a NC unless they were undefeated... think about it....the last time was in the early 90's when the Bama Cheaters beat the Miami Convicts in the Sugar Bowl. There's been no undefeated SEC teams since.....(well except some Cheating Allbarn teams that were either not allowed to go due to probation or finished behind two other undefeated teams - 2004 ..3 Auburn,2 Texas, 1 USC..... no BCS that year and USC beats OSU and wins the NC....instead of getting beaten by #2 Texas due to the BCS matchup).....

So you'd be hearing 5 Pete Carroll all over ESPN right now ...and you'd be purchasing all your Sugarl Bowl paraphanalia after LSU beat Va. Tech for the second time this season in the sugar bowl...

I prefer this system.... at least until they figure out a playoff that includes every conference having a championship game...and destroying the ROSE Bowl once and for all......

Anti-vanilla Miles not afraid to buck conventional wisdom

By Gene WojciechowskiESPN.com(Archive)
Updated: January 3, 2008, 1:23 PM ET

NEW ORLEANS -- Les is more. Sometimes so much more that you shake your head in disbelief.
Did Les Miles, with only nine seconds remaining and LSU's national title hopes hanging by the width of a Mike VI's tiger whisker, really go for a touchdown on third-and-7 from the Auburn 22 when all he needed was a semi-chip shot field goal to win?
Did he really end his bizarre, Take that, ESPN, I'm-Not-Going-To-Michigan news conference with, "I'm busy. Thank you very much. Have a great day"?

es Miles wears his emotions on his sleeve.
Did he really refer to his Tigers as, "my damn strong football team"?

The pop quiz answers are: yes, yes, and damn yes.
Miles doesn't wear his emotions just on his sleeve. He wears them everywhere: on the sideline while pumping his fist, in the postgame locker room, at news conferences. His face has three dial settings: elation, determination, or I'm Going To Cry. Elation, though, is getting the most work, thanks to the domino effect of upsets and losses all the way from Morgantown, W.Va., to San Antonio.
Somehow -- and not even Miles is sure how the reprieve happened -- LSU is in the Allstate BCS National Championship Game, and better yet, playing the game just 80 miles from its Baton Rouge campus. The Tigers have two losses (a BCS Championship first), they're tracking, statistically speaking, the wrong way during their past eight games, and, depending on the published account you read, almost lost their coach to his beloved alma mater, Michigan............

ESPN....ABC....the conspiracy....

(pic courtesy of tigerdroppings.com)

THE CONSPIRACY.....

Okay here we go again..the ESPN/ABC/Disney Conspiracy is kicking into high gear once again...since the conglomerate lost out on the BCS games to Fox they've hung their fortunes on the one game they kept...the freaking Rose Bowl. Now since that one is over we'll get endless analysis on how USC needs to jump to number one in the AP and that 'USC is the best team in the country right now'. Give me a break.

.....If we get to see another BCS/ AP national championship split this season I'm going ballistic!!!....enough already.....

....Other Random Thoughts.....

The Brent Musberger drinking game... if you played this today you are no doubt in a coma right now....the rules today were to take a shot every time Brent Musberger said either "John David, John David Booty or referenced USCs 2003 'championship' .... I can't stand that man....hiccup.....

Lou Holtz

Lou said today that since U of Meechigan beat Floriday... OSU will now blowout LSU. .....this isn't a Nick Saban team...LSU does not get blown out under Les Miles...as a matter of fact LSU does the blowing out.... look out OSU.. your beating is coming.....

Florida and Arkansuck

Wow..Timmy Tebow continues the Heisman winner curse and Arky proves that Nutt was the superior game day coach on the planet with not much talent....

The Battle of the Mascots... Mike won...

It's (almost) Gameday...by Jill....

Taken from the archives, dusted off and retooled for 2007…

The bright white lights are twinkling
In the cool December breeze
There’s neither an icicle nor a snowflake in sight
On Canal Street’s sparkling Palm trees

It’s been a wacky crazy roller coaster season
And we still found our way to the Superdome
We goin’ to the Ship, baby
And it’s so much sweeter to play at home

The Vols couldn’t spoil our party
Beckwith sealed the deal with a pick
And now Herbstreit’s rumors are finally put to rest
We all knew Les wouldn’t pull a Nick

The tickets are so precious few
Find a barstool or your favorite comfy chair
All over the world the parties will be plentiful
LSU is everywhere

Friends and neighbors will gather
To cheer for the Purple and Gold
They’ll raise glasses to toast their Fighting Tigers
As they watch the Championship unfold

Season’s Greetings all you Tigers
May your days be merry and bright
Santa might be wearing red on Christmas
But January 7th, his jersey will be white

It’s just 2 more weeks until Gameday
Let’s count down till we do it again
Trophy raised, streamers falling and Jim Hawthorne saying...
"My, my, my! Tigers Win! Tigers Win!"

GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And

Merry Christmas!!!!!!!

Wow...didn't see that one coming..

Petrino resigns from Atlanta Falcons to coach Arkansas
7:45 p.m. - ATLANTA (AP) -- Bobby Petrino resigned as Atlanta Falcons coach on Tuesday, having lasted only 13 games with the NFL team. A person within the league told The Associated Press that Petrino quit to return to the college ranks at Arkansas. He had only left Louisville in January, agreeing to become Falcons coach for a five-year, $24 million contract handed out by a team that felt he could help star quarterback Michael Vick reach his full potential.....

SEC West Coaching is getting ridiculous......

The drama continues.... this is ridiculous....

Published: Dec 11, 2007 - UPDATED: 5 p.m.
LSU coach Les Miles denied once again Tuesday he is interested in filling Michigan's head coaching vacancy.
Miles, who is spending this week recruiting for LSU, released a statement Tuesday in response to a report in the Detroit Free Press that the Tigers' coach had spoken with Michigan athletic director Bill Martin and school president Mary Sue Coleman late last week.
"I had a conversation with Michigan last week that covered a wide range of topics. I was doing nothing more than helping them with their search for a football coach, just as any loyal alumnus might do. It was nothing more than that," Miles said.
"I'm not a candidate for that job and I will not be a candidate for the job," Miles said. "I was only assisting them in their search for a coach. I have a great job at a wonderful place, a place that my family calls home. It's time that Michigan goes on with their search for a football coach. I'll say it again, I'm going to be the coach at LSU next season."

Dear Mr. LSUal,

Thank you for your show of support for LSU Football by requesting tickets to the 2008 BCS National Championship Game.

Why I love the BCS...

Without the BCS we’d be treated right now to the media talking about the winner of the Rose bowl being the NC – it would be Ohio State vs USC.

Without the BCS LSU would be playing Va Tech in the Sugar Bowl and we’d be non-excited about playing a team we beat by 7 touchdowns. A team worse than Miss. St. Or we’d see a rematch with OK.

I Love the BCS.

Without the BCS the 2003 Champion would be USC…..because the media would have focused in on the Rose Bowl again.

Without the BCS the championship last year would have been a match between USC and Ohio State in the Rose Bowl.

COULD IT BE????

http://www.bcsguru.com/ is predicting the following...

OHIO STATE vs. LSU
AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. (Dec. 1, 2007) -- The season of upsets brought up one fine ending ... and a fine mess. But the BCS Guru projects that Ohio State and LSU, two teams that occupied the top spot of the BCS standings for much of the season, will meet in New Orleans in the BCS national championship game.
Ohio State will be a comfortable No. 1 against LSU, which will edge out Virginia Tech (No. 3) and Georgia (No. 4) and Oklahoma (No. 5) for the spot. The Tigers' early-season rout of the Hokies, and the victory over a Tennessee team that blew out Georgia should put them over the top.
More to follow ...

BCS NC GAME???

Here me out...

1 and 2 are thru...

#3 is Ohio State and they're in
#4 is UGA - Didn't win their division or their conference
#5 is Kansas - yes they have only 1 loss, didn't win their conference or division and only beat one ranked team
#6 is Va. Tech - they won their conference. They have two losses. But how the HELL do the get ranked ahead of LSU??? LSU beat them by 41 points. That almost seven touchdowns

#7 - LSU - HOW DO WE NOT GET IN THERE???? 7-1 against ranked teams. Face a GDMF Heisman candidate in 5 games. Tebow, KY QB, McFadden, Ainge (was one early in the season), Glenn (va Tech) ..he was one early in the season.

BCS WILL EXPLODE KNOW MATTER WHAT THEY DECIDE

Call your congressman.....call your doctor

TAKE THAT FULMER! FEAR THE HAT! SEC CHAMPS!

WOW!! It's wasn't pretty...but it was pretty effective!!!

The Hat Stays!

Hester Runs for 120

Perilloux gets the MVP

...and the Defense comes thru with the winning score!!!

LSU 21

Tenn 14

Cue The Clash song "Should I Stay or Should I go?"

The 12:50 Press Conference Les Miles text Below:

"There was misinformation on ESPN and I think it's imperative that I straighten things out. I'm the head coach at LSU. I will be the head coach at LSU. I have no interest in talking to anybody else. I got a Championship game to play and Im excited about the opportunity for my damn strong football team to play in it. That's really all i have to say. It was unfortunate that I had to address my team with this information this morning. But that being done, I think we'll be ready to play. There will be no questions for me. I represent me in this issue. Please ask me after. I'm busy. Thank you very much and have a great day"
