The common denominator.............?? "I live in Texas and am a diehard Longhorn fan. Do we have a shot at the National Title ? Not a chance , we are not good enough this year . So this is my unbiased opinons on who are the real POWER HOUSES in college football this year. USC and LSU are head and shoulders above every one else. It is unfortunate that Oklahoma happens to be very good during a season when LSU and USC are just awesome. LSU and USC will play for the BCS National Championship in the Sugar Bowl this year. In regards to the coaching controversy. Prior to joining LSU, Nick Saban`s overall record at Michigan State was 43-26-1, no Conferance Titles, no National Titles during a five year period. During five years at LSU, his record was 48-16, SEC Conference titles in 2001 and 2003, and a BCS National Title in 2003. So did Saban make LSU good ? Not hardly, LSU made Saban look great. Nick Saban even admitted, the biggest mistake he ever made was leaving LSU. If Saban is God`s gift to football why didn`t he have the same results at Michigan State and Miami? I think that the only results that Bama is going to get for their $4 Mil/yr is the same results that Michigan State got. NOTHING. Enter Les Miles, his four year record at Oklahoma State prior to joining LSU, 28-21 overall 16-16 in conference play. His record was even worst than Nick Saban`s. Les Miles record at LSU after 2 full seasons and 2weeks into this season, 24-4 overall 14-4 in conference. And there is a very good chance that LSU will win the SEC and the BCS National Title this year. Are we starting to see a pattern here?Is Les Miles making LSU good? Not hardly,LSU is making Miles look a lot better than he really is. If Les Miles is so great, why was he just average at best when coaching Oklahoma State. From the time Saban left LSU his professional and personal life has gone downhill. Pete Carroll is a great coach.........as long as he stays at USC. It will be interesting to see at the end of this year if Les Miles is as smart as Pete Carroll or as dumb as Nick Saban. "
